FOGO Trial

Thanks to the 1000 households in Bellbird Park and Raceview who participated in our Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) trial. Your feedback has helped us in planning for delivering the best possible organics service to our community into the future.

What's next

On 25 May 2023, Council endorsed the introduction of a city-wide rollout of the three-bin-system in the 2025-2026 financial year. Based on learnings from the trial and other investigations, the service will be for garden organics (GO) only at this stage. Learn more.

The Department of Environment and Science (DES) has been funding Ipswich Waste Services to undertake behaviour change research to assist with the successful implementation of the city-wide rollout.

The bin tagging and door knocking activities were part of this research to help reduce the amount of contamination in the new bin service to produce quality compost.

The funding will also enable us to continue providing a free of charge GO service to you until the commencement of the city-wide service.

Your participation and support on FOGO research will go a long way to help us and other councils to deliver the best possible organics service now and into the future.

Thank you for your feedback during the trial. Your continued use of the three-bin-system will play a big part in reducing waste sent to landfill.
