As the western part of Ipswich anticipates rapid growth, it has become clear that the current resource recovery services will be insufficient to meet the demands of this expanding population. To address this challenge, extensive research and investigation has been conducted to identify the most suitable location for a Western Resource Recovery Centre.
We appreciate your interest in this planning process. Our consultants from ATC Williams have diligently reviewed over 750 potential locations. This comprehensive assessment included 13 community submissions, 23 council-owned sites, and 734 privately owned properties.
The initial list of 15 sites was submitted to the council for further investigation. Based on specific selection criteria, a shortlist of top sites was generated. You can find more details in the attached Summary Report.
Following the selection criteria, we identified the top three ranked sites, which are highlighted on the map below, and asked for community feedback. In response to community feedback received, we have taken onboard your comments requesting to remove the Mount Marrow site as a potential location for the Western Resource Recovery Centre.
Community feedback remained open until 26 August for the other two shortlisted sites:
- 94 and 95 Oakleigh Colliery Road, Rosewood
- 486 - 516 Ipswich Rosewood Road, Jeebropilly
Your input will play a crucial role in informing the final decision on the Western Resource Recovery Centre’s location.
