Notification of Works - 15 May

15 May 2024

To progress building rectification works after the removal of the Bell Street overpass, nightwork is required. It is anticipated the works will take three nights to complete, weather permitting.

Works to facilitate building rectification in Bell Street Ipswich will include:

  • Construction of block work walls on both eastern and western sides
  • Building inspections
  • Removal of scaffolding
  • External building rectification works

What to expect?

  • Traffic control vehicles and controllers to direct traffic.
  • Changed traffic conditions, temporary periodic one lane closures of Bell Street. Access will be maintained for the duration.
  • Reduced speed limit to 40km/h through the work area. Motorists are advised to be alert and drive to the changed traffic conditions.
  • Traffic control will direct buses and motorists through the night work zone.
  • Limited pedestrian access around the construction area. Temporary footpath closures near the work area will occur and alternative routes will be signed.
  • Majority of work will be completed within the road reserve and behind safety traffic barriers and fencing.
  • Machinery within the work zone.
  • Some minor noise and dust associated with these activities. Every effort will be made to minimise these impacts.

Nightworks

  • During night works vehicles will use ‘quacker’ style reversing alarms rather than beepers to reduce noise.
  • Light towers will be placed to limit glare to nearby businesses.
  • All efforts will be made to minimise dust and noise with some noisier activities being completed prior to 10.30pm.
